Edit Word documents by chatting with an AI

Office Word Editor is a free, Word-style .docx editor in your browser with an AI assistant docked on the right. Type in the page like in Word — or tell the assistant what you want, and watch the document update. Your file never leaves your browser.

Start editing — it's free

Quick start

  1. Open or create. Drag a .docx onto the page, use File > Open, or just start typing in the blank document.
  2. Ask the assistant. Describe an edit in the chat panel — the AI reads the document, makes the change, and the page updates instantly. Every AI edit is one Undo step.
  3. Download. File > Download a copy gives you a real .docx that opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice.

What the AI assistant can do

Draft from scratch

Give it a topic and get a complete, structured document — title, headings, body, lists.

  • "Draft a one-page project status report for a website redesign"
  • "Write a formal complaint letter about a delayed delivery"
  • "Create a meeting agenda for a quarterly planning session"

Rewrite & polish

Improve what is already there without losing the rest of the document.

  • "Rewrite the introduction to be more concise"
  • "Fix grammar and improve clarity throughout"
  • "Make the tone more formal" / "friendlier"

Format & structure

It applies real Word styles — Title, Heading 1–3, Quote — plus colors, highlights, and alignment.

  • "Turn the bolded lines into Heading 2 sections"
  • "Add a title and organize this into sections with headings"
  • "Highlight every deadline in yellow"

Tables

Builds bordered tables with header rows and cell shading; edits existing ones.

  • "Add a summary table of the key points"
  • "Turn this list into a 3-column table: task, owner, due date"
  • "Add a row for October to the budget table"

Lists & layout

Real Word bullets and numbering (with nesting), page breaks, indentation.

  • "Convert the action items into a numbered list"
  • "Add a page break before the appendix"
  • "Group the risks into nested bullet points by severity"

Ask about the document

Questions get answers in chat — the document stays untouched.

  • "Summarize this contract in three sentences"
  • "What deadlines are mentioned in this document?"
  • "Is anything missing from this proposal?"

Tips for good results

Frequently asked questions

Is it free?
The editor is completely free. AI edits include a free sponsored daily allowance for every visitor; beyond that, AI usage is billed per request through SkillSafe credits — typically around a cent per edit, shown before you send.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Opening, editing, and saving happen entirely in your browser. Only the document content you send to the assistant, plus your instruction, goes to the AI model.
Can it edit my existing Word files?
Yes — open any .docx. Headings, formatting, lists, tables (including header shading), images, links, margins, and page setup are preserved through editing and download.
Does the AI overwrite my whole document?
The assistant returns the complete document with your requested change applied and everything else preserved — and the app applies it as a single undoable step.
Do I need an account?
Not to edit, and not for the free AI allowance. Sign in with SkillSafe when you want to use the AI beyond the daily free preview.
What is not supported yet?
Tracked changes, comments, footnotes, and headers/footers are preserved in opened files but can't be edited in the app yet.
